This is my first Netgalley review I m going to start by saying that this is a pretty simple book maybe a bit too simple for my taste , it s a well put together list of things that makes our lives a little brighter Overall I enjoyed it because I can relate to how walking in nature, seeing the trees in all their glory or swimming in the ocean refreshes the soul or how life definitely improves once you realize how important it is to be kind to others and to yourself look deeply into your eyes do you see the beauty Finding Beauty by Patrick Lindsay it s a good recommendation for someone who is struggling and just needs a little reminder that life doesn t suck that bad.

Overview I got this book as an advance review copy from Netgalley I really liked the concept of the book The author has taken a simple thought and made it into a nice and beautiful book Ease of reading I read the entire book thrice, in a single sitting Then I came back to it again after a few days I thought of the entire book as a single poem which has been written with a small passage on each page The book is not only easy to read, but is also moving What I loved about the book The very fact that the author can find than a 150 ways to find beauty in and around us is humbling When all we see around and within us is complaints about everything, everyday, this book and the things in which the author finds beauty comes as a refreshing change and one that stopped me in my track and rethink and relook the life that i have The book made me sit up and enjoy the cup of coffee that i was holding before continuing to read the book it made me feel gratitude to what I already have in my life to stop complaining about trivial things and look at the bright side Any book that can do that, change the way its reader feels and acts, deserves a display of gratitude This review and the change in my attitude for as long as it stays, hopefully for as long as I can feel it is my expression of gratitude In addition to this, the author also lists a brilliant quote related to everything that he finds beauty in Most of the quotes are fresh and add to the narrative I will be candid and admit that i first read the entire book as a poem thrice and then went back and read the quotes separately and still found them interesting What would I have done differently The only thing that i would have done differently would be to also add a piece of art some visual element that represented the beauty that the author talks about I would think that it would have added another dimension However, I can also understand that it could potentially stop me from imagining the beauty and thereby might diminish the impact of the texts However, I would atleast try that before i went to press, if i were the author of this book My recommendation This book comes highly recommended, for its sheer ability to move you The book needs to be read slowly and savoured over long periods of time.

digital version provided to me free of charge review happily and voluntarily written Finding Beauty is at once a reminder that there is beauty everywhere and a guidebook to finding that beauty It is simply written, with a few cliches thrown in among the sweetly poetic passages To have a friend you must be one eyeroll The thing is, it clicked I found myself smiling again and again while reading this book, and imagining vivid scenes A good percentage of the 170 beautiful things presented here would serve as great meditations An extra star for that, which is no small thing in my too busy life.

  7. Kathy says:

  10. Heather Bennett says:

Finding Beauty is a simple book to remind us to slow down and enjoy the beauty in the smallest and simplicity in life The world can be so ugly and negative that we all need to take deep breath and focus on the beauty instead of all the ugliness.
